Orange is the New Black introduced audiences to a diverse group of characters, but not all the actors who appeared on the show are openly gay. In fact, some of the cast members are even famous for their work on other television shows and films.
For example, Laura Prepon has played everything from a nurse in Law & Order to a woman on the British series The Crown. But fans really bonded with her as Alex Vause in OITNB. Even when she was acting a little crazy, viewers always had a soft spot for this one-of-a-kind character.
Similarly, Uzo Aduba is best known for playing Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren on the Netflix show. The Boston native has won multiple Emmys for her portrayal of the lovable transgender prisoner. Aduba has also starred on Broadway (including a turn as Glinda in the 2015 live production of The Wiz), and she's a vocal advocate for LGBTQ rights.
Then there's Laverne Cox, who starred as Sophia Burset and made history when she won the first-ever award for a transgender actor. Since OITNB ended, Cox has starred in a variety of roles, including the comedy series Inventing Anna and a role in the Netflix movie Clone High. She's also an author and a producer.
