Jim Parsons wowed us all with his iconic portrayal of Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory. His acerbic and intelligent character won him four Emmys over the course of the show's run and made him one of TV's most recognizable faces. But what about the man behind the scenes? Is jim parsons gay?
Parsons has been open about his sexuality since 2012, when he came out as gay during an interview with Patrick Healy for The New York Times. At the time, he was starring on Broadway as Harvey in The Normal Heart and said he had been dating Spiewak for over 10 years.
In his interview with Healy, Parsons explained that he kept his personal life and professional career separate for a long time. He explains that his religious upbringing influenced him to keep his sexuality private, even though friends and family knew. He says that while we may not be at a point of full equality, society is definitely more tolerant than it used to be.
As for his current relationship, Parsons and Spiewak married in 2017. They are both involved with the youth advocacy group GLSEN and have worked on campaigns together for companies such as American Express, Barnes & Noble, KitchenAid, and more.
Parsons and Spiewak also founded That's Wonderful Productions, a company that strives to raise distinct voices and produce work with an underlying sense of social consciousness. They have produced films such as Special, Equal, Call Me Kat, and Hollywood.
